May – The taskforce is expanded into a full unit, with four teams (four sergeants, eight senior constables and fifteen constables/first class constables). Andrea Dobbs and Riley Evans promoted to Senior Constable. Geneviève Morin is promoted to First Class Constable.

July – Kimberley McAllister and Adam Fellows complete DTS and join the squad.

August – After she is attacked by Jaeger, Talayeh Khavari transfers out of MCS, applying for a position with the Australian Federal Police.
September – Detective First Class Constable Tony De Luca joins MCS, along with Detective Constables Cecilia Andrews and Sean Rose; Jim Troughton takes a leave of absence and Mel steps in as Acting Detective Senior Sergeant. Jane Ashton returns to duty. Also, Alan Gardiner is diagnosed with stage 4 Acute Myelogenous Leukaemia.

January – Mel is promoted to Senior Sergeant and transfers to Special Crime Squad; Sergeant Mandy O’Mara joins the Squad. Meanwhile the squad is also preparing for Alan Gardiner's funeral.

February – Beth Goldstein takes time off for maternity leave, with Vincent Nguyen covering her absence.

March – Erin Hensman replaces Tony De Luca.
June – 13. Misjudged
June – Following his success in handling the investigation and conviction of Gary Adkins, Rick is offered, and accepts, a Commander’s position. Jim steps up as acting Detective Inspector, with Duncan as acting Detective Senior Sergeant while Wes is SIO on the bikie case (MCS14). Tony resigns from the police force and Erin Hensman takes his place on Team Four, part way through the investigation.

September – David Farrier takes over as Detective Inspector in charge of the unit.

December – After the death of one of the uniformed officers, Frank Quartermain begins to exhibit signs of PTSD. Charli Underwood is promoted to Senior Constable and takes Frank's place.
